Kentucky RPCV’s Jack, Angene and Lauren met with Congressman Andy Barr this month to ask for continued support for Peace Corps activities. Among items discussed were future appropriations for Peace Corps and whether Congressman Barr would join the Congressional Peace Corps caucus. He has since agreed to join the caucus. The Peace Corps caucus was initiated in 2013 by five returned Peace Corps volunteers who now serve in Congress. The caucus serves to further and protect the interests of Peace Corps in Congress. More information about its purpose can be found here.
Jack, Angene, and Lauren also asked him to support the Respect for Peace Corps Volunteers Act which would allow use of the Peace Corps symbol on gravestones as recognition of service. Click here for more information about this bill.
